KCBS is pleased to announce our fourth annual KCBS World Invitational Barbeque Competition bringing together top champion pitmasters to compete for the title of “KCBS World Champion.” As KCBS builds upon the momentum and excitement from both Pitmaster Teams and Judges, we have elevated the contest to make it even bigger. We will have 3 full days of events; including two days of contests! The KCBS Annual Banquet will be on Friday, November 11. The Open contest will be a Competitor’s Series contest open to any KCBS member in good standing on Saturday, November 12. Backyard teams will be eligible to compete in the Open against Master Series teams without impacting their Backyard status.
The Backyard Invitational will occur on Sunday, November 13. Backyard Series teams can compete to take home the coveted title of “KCBS World Champion.” To qualify for the opportunity to compete for cash, trophies and bragging rights, Backyard Series teams must win 1st place Ribs or 1st place Chicken at a KCBS sanctioned Backyard contest between January 1, 2020 and July 31, 2022.
The Master Series Invitational will truly be some of the top competitors around the world battling for the title of KCBS World Champion on Sunday, November 13. To qualify for the opportunity to compete for cash, trophies and bragging rights, Master Series teams must have won a Grand Championship or Reserve Grand Championship between January 1, 2020 and July 31, 2022.
We will have lots of ways for the entire family to get involved! The KCBS World Invitational will include the finale of the Turkey Smoke Series turkey ancillary contest that KCBS is leading with the National Turkey Federation to showcase the versatility of turkey on the smoker! Rounding out the fun will be a cocktail contest in partnership with Holladay Distillery.
The annual KCBS banquet will occur in the evening on Friday, November 11. We will recognize all 2022 KCBS Team of the Year winners for Master and Backyard Series, as well as several other special awards. Banquet ticket sales will be announced soon.
All KCBS World Invitational qualifying pitmasters must be members in good standing of the Kansas City Barbeque Society in order to compete in the KCBS World Invitational and Open.
