GAD 121 Survey of Shakespeare’s Comedies

This lecture will provide an overview of Shakespeare’s comedies, covering Shakespeare’s relevant biography, the books he read, the varieties within the comedy genre, and the close relationship between comedy and tragedy. We will discuss "Taming of the Shrew," "Measure for Measure," and "Much Ado About Nothing" and touch upon "Twelfth Night," but only by way of introduction.
GAD 122 Shakespeare’s "Twelfth Night"

This lecture will focus exclusively on "Twelfth Night." We will explore the sources of the play, what sets it apart from Shakespeare’s other works, its major themes, and its structure. Additionally, we will examine how the play reflects the age of travel and discovery, which plays a significant role in its historical context.

Egyptian temples were built to last forever; they were considered the homes of the gods. Constructed from stone, these temples are a major reason why we know so much about ancient Egyptian history. More than just religious structures, they served as key centers of economic activity, helping Egyptian civilization to thrive. In this session, we’ll explore the purposes and functions of these temples, as well as some of the most significant ones that still stand today.
