Owned and operated by N.E. Alabama Genealogical Society, Inc., Nichols Memorial Library is on both the Alabama and National Register of Historic Places. The library is a non lending genealogical research library. Staffed by volunteers to assist those who come to research. Open each Thursday from 10 A.M. until 3 P.M. and by appointment on other days, N.E. Alabama Genealogical Society Inc. meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 1:30 pm at Nichols Memorial Library, except on Holidays. The library was the first lending library in Alabama.
