Get ready for a weekend of great food, friendly competition, and community fun at the 9th Annual Smoke in the Park BBQ Competition in Glencoe.
This KCBS Backyard sanctioned event will take place June 5–6, 2026 at Wilson Park (313 Nancy Carrol Ave, Glencoe, AL) and will bring together barbecue teams from across the region to compete for prizes and bragging rights.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, June 5 with The Jeff Smith Memorial Ironman BBQ Challenge, a competition open to all cooks. Contestants will be provided meats and will compete in chicken, ribs, and a mystery meat category.
The main event continues on Saturday, June 6 with the KCBS Backyard BBQ Competition, featuring categories including chicken, pork ribs, and pork. Teams will compete throughout the day, with turn-ins beginning at noon and awards presented later in the afternoon.
New this year is the People’s Choice “Chef’s Delight”, where teams will serve their best dish to the public and compete for top honors.
Proceeds from the event will benefit R.E.S.T., serving families in Etowah County, making this not only a great community gathering but also a way to give back.
Cook teams, food lovers, and families are invited to come out and enjoy a full weekend of barbecue, community spirit, and friendly competition in Glencoe.
